Olaf returned Tuesday for another two weeks. This time focusing on his hindquarter defensiveness. He did pretty fantastic yesterday. Olaf had yesterday off to help ease him into work. Tuesday he eyeballed the cart pretty hard when I brought it up, but eventually settled and I was able to bring it right up next to him. We went to work with the tire before calling it a day ( Read more... )

I had a client's horse go just about vertical on me Tuesday. There was a brief moment where I worried about her heading all the way over. Just before we left she was getting a little grumpy about the trot. Friday the mare popped her front end slightly on her rider and I got on and she was all bunched up and angry. I have continued watching The Horseman's Gazette DVDs that I bought last year as a birthday/Christmas to myself when they had the set of 25 they had published at the time. Rolo is obnoxious with her Dish of Destruction. Like any Elizabethan collar it is supposed to protect her from destroying herself (namely rubbing or tearing off the stitches around here eyelids), but she seems to be using it to destroy all in her path. I had my lesson with Carrie yesterday. I was the last ride of the day for her and apparently I was the last chance at a good, productive lesson. Everyone had attention issues to varying degrees.
